• The Club was treated to a display by Herman Giethoorn which featured photos from his trip to Lake Superior Provincial Park this past June.

Pictures of trails, flora , fauna and rock formations were highlighted. Thanks Herman. Your show was awesome!

• Penny Rintoul was our featured photographer in What I Shoot She presented a well narrated series of photos of her trip to Rome, demonstrating beautiful water fountains, architecture and the history of the city. Well done, Penny!

• Dave Richards excelled in this month’s “Candid Street Photography” Photo Challenge with scores of 24 and 22. Tere Deslippe received top marks in the “Two Colours” category with score of 25 pts, followed by Jeff McDonald (24 pts), Wendy McDonald (23.5 pts and 23 pts), Cindy Taleski (23.5 pts), Mary Craig (23.5 pts), Linda Pepper, (23 pts, 23 pts) and David Barr (22.5 pts). You can see some of the top scoring shots on our Club Photos page.

• Mike and Keith commented on the prints that were brought in for display. We encourage all of our members to bring in a print of any size, any subject. Your next opportunity will be Thursday, February 29th.

Club Treasurer Julie Fass introduced our guest speakers, Jesse and Susan Villemaire of FollowMeNorth.com.
Jesse and Susan spoke to the club about landscape and wildlife photography in Northern Ontario, specifically Algonquin Park. They explained their Four Ps approach to obtaining their excellent photos, Persistence, Patience, Passion and Purpose. They went on to show us some of the inspirational images that they have been able to capture, including, moose, lynx, and owls in their natural habitat.

The Chatham Camera Club thanks Jesse and Susan for sharing their time, talent and pictures.

Jim gave us some helpful hints on how to pose a single subject, Mike showed us how to pose two people and Keith explained how to pose a group of people. • Club Treasurer Julie Fass introduced our guest speaker, Ted Kloski from Henrys Camera in Windsor..

Ted spoke to The Club about the methods he uses for Street Photography, including camera settings, subject selection and how to remain discreet while taking a stranger’s picture. He also showed his excellent collection of street photos taken at home and in France.

The Chatham Camera Club wishes to thank Ted for his excellent presentation. We’re sure that we will put his tips and tricks into practice.

Club Treasurer Julie Fass introduced our guest speaker, Lisa Cuchara who spoke to the club via ZOOM  about Wabi Sabi Photography. .

 Lisa defined Wabi Sabi as the Art Of Imperfect Beauty. Her slideshow included her photos of flawed items that she has captured during everyday activities, including nature, scenic and portraiture. She also included many of her images that were created in post processing.

Club Secretary Barb Ferren thanked Lisa for her excellent presentation, as she received several compliments from our members.

• Our guest speaker, Adam Harpula, spoke to The Club about how to pose groups and couples for more pleasing pictures. He went on to demonstrate the different techniques he uses to get people to look their best in a formal photograph by using some club members in a live demonstration. The CCC wishes to thank Adam for his interesting and insightful presentation..

• Christine Thomas was featured in What I Shoot, where she showed us her collection of excellent images. Nice work Christine! We loved your show.

• Entries from our first CCC Photo Competition of the season were reviewed. Top scores in the Novice group went to Dave Richards, Barb Dawson and Christine Thomas. Debby Venne, Stacy Arnold and Kim Charron led the way in the Intermediate Division. Penny Rintoul and David Barr gained top marks in the Advanced group and Jana Smith, Linda Pepper, Mary Craig, Tere Deslippe and Jim Pollock had the high scores in the Salon bracket. You can see the top scoring shots on our Club Photos page.

• Mike and Keith appraised some of the prints that were brought in for display and discussion. Thanks to all who showed us their work. We love looking at your photos!

Club Treasurer Julie Fass introduced our guest speaker, Christine Cook, who spoke to us via ZOOM about Colour Theory in Photography.
Christine talked about how some colours work well together and other combinations don’t. She used several photographs to demonstrate complimentary colour schemes.

The Chatham Camera Club wishes to thank Christine for her fascinating talk. Several of our members commented about how a better understanding of Colour Theory will help create more pleasing images.

• Club secretary, Barb Ferren welcomed one new member and two guests to open the Chatham Camera Club’s 88th year of existence.

• Treasurer Julie Faas presented her annual Auditor’s Report, showing the club’s finances. Member Rick McArthur has audited our books and has confirmed that everything is in order.

• Photo Challenge Manager Tere Deslippe reviewed the 2023/2024. You can find a copy of the schedule here: 2023-24 Challenge due date schedule.

• Tere showed the results of our summer fun project, “It’s Hip To Be Square”, where our members changed the aspect ratio of their cameras to 1:1 to create a square image, and set their picture style to black and white. Congratulations to those who took part in this exercise. You created some fabulous images!

• Dave and Keith examined a few of the excellent prints that were on display. Thanks to all who participated. If you would like to show some of your printed work, your next chance to do so will be at our Tuesday, October 24th meeting. Any size, any subject is more than welcome.

• To make up for a technical issue, Mike Blazek’s slideshow was replayed to the delight of those in attendance. Mike’s excellent collection of nature and abstract photos was enjoyed by all.

• Our next meeting will be held via ZOOM on October 10th at 7 PM when guest speaker Christine Cook will teach us about Color Theory.
