47 members and guests enjoyed a travelogue on Jordan by Margaret Chrysler, which showed a fascinating view of the country’s ancient culture, highlighted by Margaret’s excellent commentary.
The club reviewed the submissions for this month’s Competition Theme: “Back Lighting”, which featured many beautiful and creative shots. The top marks of the night went to Carson Plant, who achieved a combined score of 41 for his two entries.

Meeting October 13th / 2009
Our first meeting of the season saw a good showing of most of the membership. A Thank You goes out to Kathy Davidson and Frank Vadovic for presenting their very interesting slideshow which gave us a look at how people lived and are living in Cuba. Also thanks to Mrs. Vadovic for her help in producing it.
CAPA Award Winner
In the Spring CAPA Nature Competition, Margaret Manson received the Bronze Medal for third place. Congratulations Margaret. A larger version of her winning image can be seen under ‘Club Photos’.
Meeting May 12th 2009
On Tuesday, May 12th, 2009, the Chatham Camera Club held their Awards Night, where the winners of the Photo Competitions for 2008-2009 season were presented with Certificates honouring their achievements.
Bob Allen received the ‘Most Improved Photographer’ Award.
Carson Plant received the ‘Best Photo’ Award. See Carson’s photo under ‘Club Photos’.
In the ‘Advanced’ Division, 1st place went to Les McCracken, Paul Schmoldt was 2nd, and Harry Arneill 3rd.
The recipients in the ‘Intermediate’ Division were Jim Pollock 1st place winner, Doug Woodman 2nd, and Dave Noordhoff 3rd.
As a result of their win, Jim, Doug and Dave will move up to the ‘Advanced’ Division.
In the ‘Beginner’ Division, 1st place went to Martha Gillier , 2nd to Vince Gagnier and 3rd to Bob Allen.
Martha and Vince will move up to the ‘Intermediate’ Division as a result of their win.
Paul showed images from a visit at Hiram Walker’s Canadian Club Head Office in Windsor with ‘Windsor Photo Guild’ and Les showed visits from ‘Open Doors’ – COSY / CFCO , Caleb Retirement Home and ‘The Pines Chapel’.

Meeting April 28 / 2009
During our second last meeting of the season, club members were shown which of our photos will grace the walls of the Outreach For Hunger office. Thanks to Doug Woodman for heading up this project.
Carson Plant entertained the group with his excellent Travelogue on Louisburg, Nova Scotia.
Paul lead us through a review of the comments from the St.Thomas Photographic Guild on our Fences exchange.
The CCC got a chance to show their creative skills in the Objects That Form a Letter or Number competition, in which we saw many entertaining submissions.
Meeting April 14 / 2009
Our third and final workshop of the season featured Les McCracken’s basic light and exposure lessons, Carson Plant’s tutorial on close up photography using a softbox, Dave Noordhoff’s Photoshop tips and tricks, Paul Schmoldt’s creative composing and editing demo, Herman Giethoorn’s close up lighting techniques and Craig Harkins’ fascinating look at photo restoration. A special thanks goes out to all of those who shared their knowledge with the club members. We look forward to more workshops next season.
‘Photo In Focus’ – March 26 / 2009

This time we are featuring the photographic talents of Martha Gillier. Martha is the Club’s current Social Co-ordinator and makes sure we have refreshments at our breaks. She is also heading the nominating committee for our next election in May. Her wide variety of excellent photos has put Martha in the lead of her division in our monthly competitions.
