Our featured photographer this month is Dave Noordhoff. Dave has brought a wealth of knowledge to the Chatham Camera Club and his teaching background is a valuable asset when he presents his excellent software tutorials at our workshops. Our final workshop of 2009 featured
How To Use Pro-Show Gold / Producer by Carson Plant,
Photographing Christmas Lights by Herman Giethoorn,
How To Read And Use EXIF Data by Dave Noordhoff and
Printing Techniques by Les McCracken. The Chatham Camera Club wishes to express its thanks to these members for preparing these tutorials and for sharing their knowledge. With suggestions from the membership, more workshops are scheduled for 2010.

This month we are featuring the photographic skills of Doug Woodman. Doug is a CCC Executive Assistant who is involved in helping to set up our display equipment for our monthly meetings. Guest speaker Don Martel of The Windsor Photo Guild presented Principles Of Visual Design, which showed our members how to look for primary and secondary shapes while composing a photo. The Chatham Camera Club thanks Don for his informative and entertaining presentation and looks forward to more interaction between our two clubs in the near future.
The club reviewed the submissions for this month’s Competition Theme: “Life Forms” (Except Humans), with high scores going to Nelson Harrison, Carson Plant and Dave Ladore.

Our first workshop of the season included tutorials on Creating an Apple iBook by Lorie Cooper, An Introduction To FastStone by Paul Schmoldt, Point and Shoot Basics by Les McCracken, Photo editing on a Mac by Gabriel Blanchard and Using Canon’s DPP for RAW conversion by Dave Noordhoff. We thank these members for sharing their knowledge with the club and look forward to more workshops in the near future.

47 members and guests enjoyed a travelogue on Jordan by Margaret Chrysler, which showed a fascinating view of the country’s ancient culture, highlighted by Margaret’s excellent commentary.
The club reviewed the submissions for this month’s Competition Theme: “Back Lighting”, which featured many beautiful and creative shots. The top marks of the night went to Carson Plant, who achieved a combined score of 41 for his two entries.

Our first meeting of the season saw a good showing of most of the membership. A Thank You goes out to Kathy Davidson and Frank Vadovic for presenting their very interesting slideshow which gave us a look at how people lived and are living in Cuba. Also thanks to Mrs. Vadovic for her help in producing it.

In the Spring CAPA Nature Competition, Margaret Manson received the Bronze Medal for third place. Congratulations Margaret. A larger version of her winning image can be seen under ‘Club Photos’.

On Tuesday, May 12th, 2009, the Chatham Camera Club held their Awards Night, where the winners of the Photo Competitions for 2008-2009 season were presented with Certificates honouring their achievements.
Bob Allen received the ‘Most Improved Photographer’ Award.
Carson Plant received the ‘Best Photo’ Award. See Carson’s photo under ‘Club Photos’.
In the ‘Advanced’ Division, 1st place went to Les McCracken, Paul Schmoldt was 2nd, and Harry Arneill 3rd.
The recipients in the ‘Intermediate’ Division were Jim Pollock 1st place winner, Doug Woodman 2nd, and Dave Noordhoff 3rd.
As a result of their win, Jim, Doug and Dave will move up to the ‘Advanced’ Division.
In the ‘Beginner’ Division, 1st place went to Martha Gillier , 2nd to Vince Gagnier and 3rd to Bob Allen.
Martha and Vince will move up to the ‘Intermediate’ Division as a result of their win.
Paul showed images from a visit at Hiram Walker’s Canadian Club Head Office in Windsor with ‘Windsor Photo Guild’ and Les showed visits from ‘Open Doors’ – COSY / CFCO , Caleb Retirement Home and ‘The Pines Chapel’.
